when i was little... like 6 years old... i wanted to learn how to crochet... my mom showed me how to do the simple chain stitch...
i remember sitting and chaining a whole skein of yarn...
one skein turned into more skeins... and i remember gifting those LONG chains to family and friends... {they must have been thrilled...}
then... i started taking crochet lessons from a neighbors grandmother... the first project i wanted to make was and easter outfit... whoa! can't even imagine now what that would have looked like but it's a pretty funny memory to think that i was that ambitious...
i settled on making granny square slippers... with pom poms on the toes... they were red and white... and i gave them to my mom for christmas that year... i'm pretty certain that she still has them tucked away somewhere :)
anyhow... i've been wanting to give something a try for a while now... crocheting with material strips...
i tried it out the other day and am pretty excited...
i started going in a circle...
and kept going and going...
i made a bowl...
with fun colored scraps that i had...
i think i'd like to make a few more...
they'll make for cute storage in my creative space...
do you like the top edge plain or do you think it needs a little ruffled or scalloped trim?
i'm on the fence and would love your input...
have a happy day~

i think a ruffle would be adorable! love it!
I love your bowl!! With all the colors, I don't think it needs any ruffled edge. It reminds me of the rag rugs I love so much. I would love to try to make one, too and have to ask how you joined your fabric strips.
I love it! It's been a VERY long time since I've crocheted and all I ever got down was the chain - lol
Awesome! How sweet is that bowl? Love the soft colors. I'd love to pin it if you don't mind!

OH! I forgot to answer the question...I'd have to see what a ruffle would look like. Then decide "to ruffle or not to ruffle?"
:)
It looks great as is!
Ooooh - LOVE! So pretty. Definitely adding to my to do list :) I like the top as is but if you make a collection for your crafty things, maybe a ruffle or two on some of them?
So pretty, Angie! I love all the colors!!
So Pretty!
Enjoy your blog so much:o)

p.s. I LOVE that you wanted to crochet an Easter outfit as your first project...or any project, for that matter! lol
Love it, Angie!
Thanks for stopping by Angie - and now here I am envious of your beautiful crocheted bowls (perfect as is BTW). You will make good use of them - and what lovely gifts they'd make for some lucky people! Great job.

My Grandmere in France used to do basket weaving and could make amazing items! This reminds me of her, even though the medium differs. What fun you've been having!
what a fun way to use up scraps of fabric and create unique storage!
Your bowl is so pretty and colorful.
I love your bowl! I vote for keeping it the way it is - it's so colorful and charming.
Thanks so much for joining in this week..

That bowl is adorable, Angie! I love all those pretty spring colors. I like it plain on top, but that's just me. You're right, bowls like this would make lovely containers for crafts.
Try putting handles on it.
It's a cute basket.
I really like it without ruffles, try putting handles on it.
